Information you make public
Rent reports may publish the society and locality, building type, home type, furnishing, monthly rent, deposit, lease month, an optional block or wing, and an approximate map position. Next home details, chosen display names and community comments may also be published. Contact details are not part of the public rent report. Do not include an exact flat number or personal contact details in public text.
Information kept private
Email addresses used to sign in and mobile numbers used to verify a person publishing a Next home, manage Next homes and connection requests, request a one-time city launch alert, or watch a society for new rent and tenant-departure updates are used to operate those features and are not included in the public rent feed. Contact details remain private until both tenants agree to connect. City alert addresses are used only for the requested launch notification. Society-watch email addresses are encrypted at rest and each watch is activated only after inbox confirmation. Every watch email includes a way to stop emails from that society.
Using your device location
Some features can use your device’s location when you ask them to — the map’s “Search near me” control and the current-location option inside search. Your browser asks your permission first, and nothing is requested unless you press one of those controls. Declining is always safe: every screen that offers it also works by searching or panning the map.
When you use one of those controls, Rentnama records the location your browser reported, the locality it falls in, how accurate the reading was, and whether we cover that area. This is first-party product measurement: it tells us which parts of a city are looking for rents and where Rentnama is not yet useful, so coverage and new markets are decided on evidence. It is not linked to your contact details, it is not sold or shared for advertising, and it is not treated as proof of where you live. These records follow the same 730-day product-measurement retention described below, and you can ask for them to be deleted.
Rent receipt generator
When you generate rent receipts, Rentnama stores the rented property address, locality, city, monthly rent, receipt period and payment mode to improve rent comparisons and understand rental prices. Tenant and landlord names, landlord PAN, payment references, receipt prefixes and the generated PDF remain in your browser and are not sent to our database. The generator asks you to acknowledge this collection before saving a receipt set.
Device and abuse-prevention data
The browser stores a random visitor identifier and interface preferences such as the selected city. The service may derive a salted, non-reversible subject hash from an IP address to enforce rate limits and distinguish reports. Routine rate-limit activity records are pruned after 48 hours; content reports may be retained while needed for moderation, safety and legal obligations. Signed-out comments remain private while awaiting review. When a signed-in tenant comments, the comment is linked privately to that account for accountability; the public comment does not expose the account ID, name or email.
Why information is processed
Information is used to publish requested contributions, calculate rental statistics, save consented receipt-generation details, support tenant connections, prevent abuse, moderate content, secure the service, understand whether core product journeys work, answer requests and comply with law. First-party product measurement uses salted visitor and session hashes and may retain searches, selected place names and addresses, public place identifiers, map coordinates, device locations you choose to share, and submitted rent/deposit values so unresolved demand and data quality can be analysed. It does not copy email addresses, phone numbers, authentication tokens or tenant introductions into product events. Product events are deleted after 730 days. We do not sell personal data.
Service providers
Cloudflare provides hosting, network delivery and database infrastructure and, when enabled, aggregate cookie-free traffic and performance measurement. Google Analytics processes traffic and bounded funnel events; raw searches, selected names and addresses, coordinates, referrer URLs, and rent/deposit values are excluded from those custom events. Google Maps, Places and Geocoding may process a location search, selected map place or coordinate when a place must be resolved; a device location read through your browser is resolved on your device and is not sent to them. Their processing is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. MSG91 processes mobile numbers and sends verification codes for Next-home publishing. Resend may process sender and recipient details to deliver sign-in and transactional email. Each provider handles data under its own terms and privacy commitments.
Retention and security
Public contributions remain while they are active or useful to the rental picture, unless removed after moderation or a valid request. Private operational records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for delivery, disputes, safety, compliance and backups. Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You may request information about your personal data, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent or grievance review. Some information may be retained where law permits or requires it. Send the relevant email address, contribution link and request to hello@rentnama.in.
